Opening Night at The Municipal Grand

A Building Brought Back to Life

Set in a 1960s bank building on Broughton Street, the hotel retains its mid-century bones while layering in warmth, greenery, and design details that speak to Savannah’s present. Clean lines and strong concrete forms now frame curved banquettes, rich textures, and a lobby that feels more like a gathering place than a check-in desk.

The Lobby Bar – A New Living Room

From the moment the doors opened, the lobby bar set the tone. Crescent-shaped and glowing, it quickly became the focal point of the evening. Guests and locals leaned into the space, ordering martinis, daiquiris, and sharing plates while music and conversation carried across the room. What could have felt like a hotel amenity instead came across as a genuine neighborhood bar—only one wrapped in mid-century style.

Upstairs at The Sun Club

While the lobby buzzed, the rooftop pool deck offered a different kind of welcome. The Sun Club, reserved for hotel guests, looked out across the Historic District with striped loungers, tropical plantings, and water shimmering in the evening light. Some guests lingered here before returning downstairs, others settled in for the night, already treating the space as their own retreat above the city.
